The following won $1,000 scholarships in the Burger King Scholars Program: Aashni Ruwala, Ashley Reid, Christina Ball, Jason Murray, Kache Greene, Matthew Yates, Michelle Fogarty, Rohith Panuganti and Samantha Schwarz of Providence High School; Cameron Coughlin and Karsu Nalbantoglu, South Mecklenburg High; Victoria Crocker, Providence High; Ava Washington, Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology; Cierra Harris, Butler High; Laura Fortner and Stefan Eckmann, Lake Norman Charter School; Jalen Anderson, Harding University High; Jashawn Berry, Rocky River High; Jose Cespedes, Olympic High; and Kathleen Brien, Northwest School of the Arts.
The program awarded 1,973 scholarships overall this year and has awarded 17,064 scholarships to students and employees across the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico, representing $17.6 million in awards since the programs inception in 2000.
