Word Masters

Covenant Day School’s AP Literature classes placed fourth among 147 12th-grade teams, and 20 of the school’s students placed in the top 10 percent nationally in the Word Masters Challenge. The competition for high school students requires close reading and analysis of many different kinds of prose and poetry.

Lane Baker, Covenant Day’s top scorer, tied for first place in the nation with two other students. Emma Biggerstaff and Nathan Joffe finished in the top 23 nationally. Graham Collins, Brent McKnight Katelyn Mullins, Tim Stamler, Addison Threatt and Madison Underwood placed in the top 2 percent nationwide and received high honors; Brianna Norris and Kurt Weisheit placed in the top 10 percent nationally and received honorable mention.
