Part of Belmeade Dr. to close for rail work

State transportation officials plan to temporarily close a portion of Belmeade Drive in northwest Mecklenburg for a nearby railroad project.

Barring bad weather, Belmeade will be closed for traffic between N.C. 27 and Rhyne Road from 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.

Motorists are asked to use Rhyne Road as an alternate route.

The NCDOT said the temporary closure is planned so contractors with CSX Railroad can work on the nearby railroad crossing and track approaches. APRIL BETHEA
