Man charged in Kings Mountain vehicle break-ins

A 20-year-old man remains in jail Friday after police say they linked him to a series of vehicle break-ins earlier this month.

Kings Mountain police said Edgar Amilcar Flores Jr., 20, had already been in jail on unrelated offenses when he was charged in connection with the break-ins. He now faces more than three dozen counts, including 17 counts of felony breaking or entering of a motor vehicle, according to a news release.

Police said the break-ins were reported between June 22 and Tuesday in the Crescent Hill and Edgemont Drive areas of Kings Mountain. Flores was identified as a suspect by police, and warrants against him were issued on Wednesday.

Records show Flores has been in the Cleveland County Detention Center since Tuesday. He also faces an underage drinking charge, according to the jail website.
