Charlotte Christian School sixth-grader Brandon Hay earned Grand Recognition from Duke TIP for his composite score in the 99th percentile on the eighth-grade explore test, part of the Duke University Talent Identification Program.
Brandon was presented with a medallion at the state recognition ceremony at Wake Forest University in June. Seventh-grade Charlotte Christian students Grace Blevins, Patrick Gerard, Melissa Goldstein, Elizabeth Gowan, Hope Winget and Abby Yoh earned special Duke TIP State Recognition for their high SAT scores.
Duke TIPs 7th Grade Talent Search is the largest program of its kind in the nation. Since its inception in 1980, more than 2 million students have participated.
The 7th Grade Talent Search identifies academically talented seventh-graders based on standardized test scores achieved while attending elementary or middle school.
Candidates are invited to take the ACT or the SAT college entrance exam as seventh-graders.
