Derrick Flakoll of Myers Park High School was honored as student of the year at the North Carolina Association for Scholastic Activities meeting in Durham. The school was also presented the NCASA Scholastic Cup.
In May, Derrick was named a winner in the third round of the National Merit Scholarship program. He’ll get between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study.
