Divers recover body from Lake Wylie

Authorities have recovered the body of a man who reportedly fell out of a boat and into Lake Wylie on Saturday afternoon

The body was pulled from the water around 7:15 p.m. Saturday in area about a mile north of the Buster Boyd Bridge near the entrance of Mill Creek, said Cotton Howell, director of the York County Emergency Management agency.

The victim’s identity was not immediately available. York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said her office was asked to report to the scene.

Authorities were called to Flying Eagles Lane in southwestern Mecklenburg around 3:30 p.m. First responders were told that an elderly man fell into the water near the South Carolina side of the lake, reports NewsChannel 36, the Observer’s news partner.

Multiple rescue teams from Mecklenburg and York counties responded to the scene.
