Mooresville woman accused of stealing cigarettes, lottery tickets from store

A former employee of a Mooresville convenience store is accused of breaking into the business last month, and stealing cigarettes and lottery tickets.

Mary Zurica, 49, was being held Tuesday in the Iredell County jail on charges of breaking and entering and larceny.

Zurica is accused in a break in on June 22 at the Yogi Mart on Williamson Road in Mooresville. Officers responding to the scene found a large rock had been used to break through the front door of the store, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday in a news release.

Security footage showed a woman pushing a shopping cart containing a rock up to the store door, the using the rock to break a window, the sheriff’s office said. Once inside the store, the suspect allegedly took cigarettes, money and lottery tickets.

Detectives learned some of the lottery tickets were cashed in at another Mooresville convenience store.

Zurica was identified as the suspect in the case, and officials learned she had previously worked at the Yogi Mart.
