Police probe man’s death on N. Tryon

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered shortly before daybreak Thursday in northern Charlotte.

Police say the body was discovered about 5:50 a.m. in the 100 block of Eastway Drive near North Tryon Street. Investigators at the scene say the body was found in a parking lot between a shoe store and a restaurant.

There is no word on how the man died, but Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have called it a “death investigation,” rather than a homicide. Detectives canvassed the area, trying to find anyone with more information in the case.

Police ask that anyone with information call detectives at 704-432-TIPS or leave information with Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
