Housekeeper accused of stealing jewelry from home

A housekeeper is accused of stealing jewelry reportedly worth more than $36,000 from a Lincoln County home.

Mubeen Khan Davis, 53, of Huntersville is charged with one felony charge each of larceny and possession of stolen goods, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Authorities say they’re also investigating Davis in connection with similar incidents in Huntersville and Cornelius.

Davis was arrested earlier this week after her longtime employer reported last month that several items were missing from their home on Hager’s Ferry Road in eastern Lincoln County. The missing items included rings, necklaces, earrings and a silver utensil set, according to a news release. The sheriff’s office said the victim noticed the items were missing in late May, but did not report the incident until June 23.

The stolen items were reportedly sold to a jewelry store in Huntersville, but authorities said investigators were able to recover a Rolex watch valued at about $10,000.

The sheriff’s office said the victim told a detective that Davis had worked as a housekeeper for more than 14 years.
