The setting for romance

Charlotte is no stranger to the spotlight. With films like The Hunger Games and Shallow Hal using Charlotte as their backdrop, it is still exciting to see camera crews running around, roads blocked off, and big-name stars mingling among us. Of course, it’s when we don’t know something is being filmed that we can’t help but draw special attention to that area. Tucked away in the subdivision of Evermay, sitting on a five-acre gated lot is a spectacular, 12,000-square-foot mansion. The property, represented by Peters & Associates, Inc. is listed for $5,899,900.

The property was used as the temporary home for the bachelors competing for Charlotte sweetheart Emily Maynard’s heart in season eight of “The Bachelorette.” Chosen for its exquisite looks and spaciousness, this Mediterranean-style mansion boasts six large bedrooms, seven full bathrooms (one of which contains a claw-foot tub), an elevator and a wine cellar, and that is just getting started. The mansion is specifically designed for family living and entertaining, and this is evident throughout the house with spaces that include an exercise room, bar, movie theater and billiards room (I bet the bachelors spent some good off-camera time there!). But it is also the details within that make this home the vision it is. Many materials used were handpicked and imported, including granites, marbles and even gold.

The backyard, the setting of a few of Emily’s first conversations with her suitors, features stunning landscaping and an outdoor kitchen, terrace and swing. Catching a glimpse of the pool and the 15-ft wide waterfall would make anyone want to call this place home – reality show or no reality show.
