Eleven teachers of science, technology, engineering and math from Guilford County Schools will participate in three-week externships this summer, funded by a $25,000 grant from Piedmont Natural Gas Foundation.
The program is designed to give the teachers real-world experience in how their subjects are applied, so they might bring that knowledge back to their students, according to a news release.
The foundation awards grants to programs fostering environmental stewardship and energy sustainability. The grant establishing the fellowships was given to Guilford Education Alliance, a nonprofit supporting quality public education.
