LAS VEGAS The Charlotte Bobcats could end up with power forward Kris Humphries, should the Brooklyn Nets use him in a sign-and-trade to help facilitate a deal for Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard.

An NBA source confirms the Bobcats would be interested in Humphries, but only if he signs a one-season contract, rather than the multi-year deal he reportedly prefers.

The Magic, Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers are involved in complex talks that would involve multiple players and draft picks.

Various reports have the Cavaliers accepting Humphries, in return for a future first-round pick from the Nets, in order to make a deal work under the salary cap.

The Bobcats could take Humphries, but only if he’s playing under a short-term deal, the source confirmed.

Humphries, 27, averaged 13.8 points, 11.1 rebounds and shot 48 percent from the field last season. He’s an unrestricted free agent but can make more per season re-signing with the Nets, even in a sign-and-trade, than signing outright with another team.

Bobcats general manager Rich Cho has indicated he’d like to add another big man to the roster. A center might make more sense, but Humphries’ rebounding productivity and shooting percentage would help a team deficient in both areas.

ESPN reported Monday the Bobcats also might be interested in Nets shooting guard MarShon Brooks, rumored to be in a proposed deal for Howard. A source said Brooks probably wouldn’t fit in the Bobcats’ plans.

Elsewhere

Chicago: Guard Kirk Hinrich, 31, agreed to a deal to return to the Bulls. A person with knowledge of the NBA confirmed the deal on condition of anonymity because it has not been announced. Free agents can’t sign contracts until Wednesday. Hinrich’s decision first was reported by the Chicago Tribune.

Hinrich spent his first seven seasons with Chicago before he was traded to Washington two years ago. He later was dealt to Atlanta, where he averaged 6.6 points in 48 games last season.

Miami: Guard Dwyane Wade had surgery on his left knee and is expected to need up to eight weeks to fully recover.

Wade can begin therapy immediately, and the Heat said he is expected to be ready for the start of training camp. The procedure took 20 minutes.

New York: Marcus Camby, 38, agreed to rejoin the Knicks in a deal that sends three players and two second-round draft picks to Houston, according to a person with direct knowledge of the move.

Yahoo Sports reported Camby’s deal was for three years and $13.2 million.

The Rockets will get guard Toney Douglas, centers Josh Harrelson and Jerome Jordan and second-round picks in 2014 and ’15.

• Steve Novak is returning to the Knicks with a four-year deal worth $15 million. The Knicks claimed him after he was waived by San Antonio and he went on to lead the NBA in 3-point shooting at 47.2 percent.

Sacramento: The Kings signed first-round pick Thomas Robinson to a rookie contract. They selected him out of Kansas with the fifth overall pick in the recent draft.
