Cow Appreciation Day

Friday. Chick-fil-A restaurants. chick-fil-a.com.

Dust off your cow costume and visit any Chick-fil-A location to get free food. If you wear a cow accessory, like a hat, you’ll receive a free entrée. If you dress head to hoof as a cow you will receive a free meal. A “cow starter set” is available for download and printing on Chick-fil-A’s website.

Musical Petting Zoo

Kids can get a close look at symphony instruments, listen to and even try them out. The Musical Petting Zoo is presented by the Charlotte Symphony Guild.

Bring a blanket, lawn chairs, a picnic and some friends to enjoy a free concert by Big Ron Hunter behind Gaston County Museum. Part of a series of free blues concerts on the second Friday of each month through September.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s nautical-themed film series continues with “The Crimson Pirate” (1952), a “pirate camp” movie featuring Burt Lancaster as Capt. Vallo.

Sunday Fun Day – Red, White and Blue

Admission to The Mint Museum Uptown is free for those under age 18, and half price ($5) for adults. Try out craft projects and see artists’ demonstrations. Special activities include creating campaign buttons and tissue paper flags and listening to live bluegrass music.
