Weekend projects to affect 2 Charlotte roads

Weekend storm drain and sewage projects will temporarily impact traffic on two Charlotte roads, including Fifth Street in uptown.

Fifth Street is expected to be reduced to one lane between Tryon and College streets starting at 7 p.m. Friday, according to the Charlotte Department of Transportation. All lanes should reopen by 7 a.m. Monday.

Transportation leaders say the lane closures are needed because of work on the North College Street storm drainage improvement project.

Also this weekend, North Hoskins Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday between Black and Tennessee avenues. Crews will be working to replace a sanitary sewer crossing. Drivers can use Black and Tennessee avenues, and Dakota Street as a detour.

CATS bus service will not be affected by either of the projects.
