Austen Poteet, a rising senior at Cannon School who lives in the University City area, earned the highest possible composite score – 36 – on the ACT college admission and placement exam.

On average, according to the ACT organization, fewer than one-tenth of 1 percent of all test takers get a top score.

The ACT consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science. Each test is scored on a scale of 1-36, and a student’s composite score is the average of the four test scores.
