By Elisabeth Arriero

A man fatally shot a woman and then killed himself, according to the Cleveland County Sheriff’s office.

Deputies were called to North Main Street in Grover a little past 10 p.m. Saturday.

Sheriff Alan Norman said when a deputy arrived at the scene he saw Dennis Moss, 60, shoot his wife, Dawn Moss, 39, reported the Observer’s news partner NewsChannel 36.

Norman said the deputy returned fire to protect the woman, but did not hit Moss.

The husband then led authorities on a short car chase. A second deputy tried to stop Moss.

A short time later, Moss shot himself.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife died later at the hospital.

The couple had two children.
