Man hospitalized after being struck by lightning

A man was rushed to the hospital Monday evening after being struck by lightning in southwest Charlotte. His family said it’s the third time the man has been struck.

The man was in the parking lot of the Steele Creek Café when he was hit by lightning, the café’s owner told NewsChannel 36, the Observer’s news partner.

Witnesses called 911 after a young girl in the restaurant saw the man lying on the ground.

Paramedics took the man to Carolinas Medical Center with what were described as life-threatening injuries.
