Interactive map: Pedestrian-involved accidents

The Charlotte region ranked as the 17th most dangerous metropolitan area for pedestrians, according to a study released last year by Transportation for America, a non-profit group. Hundreds of accidents take place on city streets each year. Many are concentrated in or around uptown. Click on an icon to view more information.


Color key:
Red - Fatal
Purple - Disabling injury
Blue - Evident injury
Green - Possible injury
Yellow - No injury

Please note, the Charlotte Department of Transportation provided the data. The data do not include accidents handled by the N.C. Highway Patrol or departments other than the city. Also, some records among the city's database did not include a GIS location were therefore left off the map.
