Domestic violence march in uptown today

The Domestic Violence Advocacy Council will hold a march at 12:15 p.m. Thursday in Charlotte's uptown, following a reported domestic violence-related death over the weekend.

The march will be on the Square, at Trade and Tryon streets. The public is invited to participate.

Thye most recent death happened Saturday. A woman called 911, saying she had stabbed her boyfriend. Police say Lonnie Denar McConico, 43, was found dead inside a south Charlotte apartment. The district attorney's office is deciding if charges will be filed in the case.

The Domestic Violence Advocacy Council says this is the third such death in 2012. There were four in all of 2011, the council says.
