Another Charlotte church burglarized

Police in Charlotte are investigating their second church burglary in less than a week, after a house or worship not far from uptown was victimized overnight.

Police say someone broke into Bethel Worship Center, on East 15th Street near the Belmont community. A witness called 911 and reported seeing someone tossing musical and electronic equipment over a fence, from inside church property to outside.

The apparent burglar had fled by the time police arrived. Officers found a window had been broken out, according to police reports. About $4,000 worth of church property was missing.

On Sunday, someone broke into Mallard Creek Worship Center, on Breezewood Drive off Mallard Creek Road, north of Harris Boulevard. In that case, about $20,000 worth of musical and electronic equipment was taken.

Police ask that anyone with information in either of the two church burglaries call Crime Stoppers, 704-334-1600.
