Watermelon Crawl

Nothing says “summer” like a watermelon. The Watermelon Crawl will feature tastings, carving demonstrations, eating contests and seed-spitting contests. Prizes will be awarded. Of course there will be plenty of watermelon for sale at the farm stand.

More than 70 artists will display and sell their work. Expect to see affordable paintings, prints, pottery, photography, etc. Enjoy live music and artistic performances while you shop. NoDa’s Gallery Crawl will take place at the same time, so the art doesn’t end at the door.

Next Level Church is providing family entertainment with a free showing of “Mr. Popper’s Penguins,” along with free bottled water, face painting, prizes and popcorn.

Campfire

Enjoy stories, songs and s’mores around the fire, then go on a hayride around the nature preserve. The hayride, which costs $1, has limited capacity, so either get to the campfire early to sign up or register by phone.

Cabarrus Hot Dog Festival

Roberta United Methodist Church celebrates Hot Dog Month with a festival. Participate in hot dog eating contests, root beer chugging contests, trike races and more. There will be carnival games for kids and a parade for dogs. Bring nonperishable food or clothing to donate.
