Police arrest suspect in Gaston killing

Police said a Gaston County murder suspect was arrested Thursday despite climbing out the back window of a home to evade police.

Tyrone Marcus Cannedy, 22, is a suspect in the shooting death of Larry Jabar Hall, 29, according to Gaston County police.

On June 28, Hall’s body was discovered by officers along J.E. Herdon Access Road, just outside the Kings Mountain city limits. The next day, police obtained warrants for Cannedy’s arrest for first-degree murder. They’ve been searching for him since then.

But on Thursday, officers went to a home on Faye Street in Gastonia. Police said Cannedy fled the home out of a back window but was taken into custody a short distance away in the nearby woods.

Cannedy, a convicted felon who goes by the street name “Dawg,” is being held without bond in Gaston County jail, police said.

The killing remains under investigation.
