The security plan for the Republican National Convention will restrict parking on many downtown Tampa streets and close roads in two counties.
The Secret Service released the security plan for Tampa on Monday. The security plan for Charlotte, site of the Democratic National Convention Sept. 4-6, has not been released but is expected soon.
In Tampa, the RNC’s security and transportation plan will close much of the southern end of downtown to traffic. Law enforcement officials also warned motorists there will be “intermittent traffic delays and temporary closures” on interstates and other roads throughout the Tampa Bay area from Aug. 25-30 so motorcades can travel to and from convention sites.
