Unfortunately, as adults, we don’t get summer breaks like we did back when we were kids in school. So take advantage of the little thrills Charlotte has to offer and enjoy a “staycation” in the form of a night out on the town.

Thursday

LocalPalooza: The inaugural all-ages concert at Amos’ Southend (1423 S. Tryon St.) will feature local bands including Case Federal and the Agents, Dangerous Daze, Dr. Cirkustein, Hectorina and The Malcontents. Doors open at 6 p.m. $8 in advance, $10 at the door. 704-377-6874.

Friday

Village Tavern at 5: The happy-hour party will host live music from Jared Allen at the SouthPark hot spot (4201 Congress St.). 5-10 p.m. 704-552-9983.

Chris Franjola: The writer-comedian is taking a break from sharing the stage with Chelsea Handler on “Chelsea Lately” to take the stage at The Comedy Zone (900 NC Music Factory Blvd.). 8 and 10:15 p.m. (also 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday). $20. 980-321-4702.

Beer Olympics: While the Summer Olympics opening ceremony is going down in London, Prohibition (200 N. Tryon St.) will be hosting its own games for “bathletes” (bar-athletes) – flip cup, beer pong, quarters, and other drinking games will be played for $500 in prizes. 8-10 p.m. To register your team of five, call 704-358-4244.

Silent Disco Series: Finale: Pavilion at EpiCentre (210 E. Trade St., on the roof) hosts said disco, which is silent because there are no loudspeakers. Partygoers wear wireless headphones and music is broadcasted via an FM-transmitter, so only those wearing the headphones hear the music. Thus, you can keep them on to dance, and take them off to talk. The DJ in your ear will be resident Bobcats DJ Complete. Free. 8 p.m.-2 a.m. http://pavilionatepicentre.com.

Saturday

Candy Land: Let the games begin – board games, that is. Mez and Kazba (210 E. Trade St.) will host the second annual party, which features a fashion show by Lipp Boutique. You can be a big kid in a candy store. You can meet your Lord Licorice or Princess Frostine. But don’t get caught up in the game (that might be the best advice I can give about nightlife, ever). 9 p.m.; fashion show will begin at 10. $10. www.elevatelifestyle.com.

Sunday

The Men of Playgirl: The male strippers bring “Magic Mike” to life at the Uptown Cabaret (108 E. Morehead St.). $5. 8-10 p.m. 704-344-0802.
