Statesville moped driver hits boat, dies

STATESVILLE -- Police say the driver of a moped slammed into a parked boat Wednesday afternoon and was killed.

Police say it happened about 4 p.m. on the bend that connects Reynolda Drive and East Sharpe Street. That is west of Salisbury Road. As the moped reached the bend in the road, it struck the boat.

Police have identified the victim as Christopher Dwayne Moser, 53. They say he was not wearing a helmet.
