ROCK HILL A Rock Hill woman says she walked into her apartment Monday to find a man with cleaning gloves standing in her living room. He then hit her head with a tree branch.

Police say the 62-year-old woman returned home to her Cleggan Road apartment close to 7 p.m. to find the door open. Then she saw the intruder in her living room, according to a Rock Hill police report.

When she confronted the burglar, he hit her in the head with a branch and then ran out the porch door before jumping over a brick wall, the report states.

Officers noticed a bruise on the woman’s forehead but she refused medical treatment. She did report that $240, her credit card, a jewelry box containing a gold bracelet, a sterling silver cutlery set and a fine china set were all missing.

Police and a K9 unit were unable to find the man. The woman described the burglar as a light-skinned man wearing a white T-shirt, red shorts and cleaning gloves.
