Fab finds: Hanging gardens

Hanging gardens

These suspended ecospheres have a modern whimsy about them, compounded by the fact that the plants inside thrive on air. Royal Gardens’ Larrie Sweet said that Tillandsia air plants don’t even need soil, just infrequent waterings. Each plant is $3.99 and the glass vessels vary in price –according to size, shape and color– but range from $15.99-$45-plus. Sweet said they can create any arrangement in the orbs, including plants that prefer to be rooted in moss or sand. Swivel tower

Apartment-dwellers and the closet-challenged can rejoice. This multitasking tower is ready to make your lack-of-linen closet a forgotten headache. The 6-foot, dark mahogany tower boasts a full-length mirror on one side then rotates to reveal five shelves with generous depth. Added bonus: Regularly priced at $229. Some assembly is required. World Market, locations in Matthews and on South Boulevard. www.worldmarket.com.

Coolest bottle opener ever

This fridge mounted magnetic bottle opener by the oddly-named Suck UK company allows you to open a beer one handed. No more looking for an opener or tearing up your hand on a non-twist off bottle cap. You just insert the bottle and press down, just like an old-time bar mounted opener. We have tested this thousands of times and it’s never failed us. Comes in silver, red or white. We found it on amazon.com for $18.77.
