A Catawba County man is wanted on charges of assault and attempted murder, authorities said, after he pointed a gun at his ex-girlfriends face and pulled the trigger.
But the gun misfired or had run out of bullets and did not fire, said Catawba County Sheriff Coy Reid. The woman was not seriously hurt.
The incident happened around 2 a.m. Sunday during a party at a home on Guy Baker Road in Conover. Aichon See, 24, began arguing with his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend and pulled out a pistol, Reid said.
Then, See hit the woman in the head with the gun and knocked her to the ground. He began kicking her, and fired two shots that hit the ground beside her, Reid said. When she got up, See pointed the pistol in her face and pulled the trigger, witnesses told authorities.
The woman was treated at an area hospital and released.
Since then, authorities have been searching for See, whose last known address was on Crown Drive in Conover, according to the Sheriffs Office.
He faces charges of attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill.
Authorities said See should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to call the Sheriffs office at 828-464-3112.
