McCrory launches TV ad Tuesday

In his first statewide TV ad, Republican gubernatorial candidate Pat McCrory blames North Carolina’s economic woes on politics and touts his record as mayor of Charlotte.

“Here’s a thought, let’s forget about politics for a while, and think about us,” he says in the 60-second ad. “That’s what we tried when I was mayor. People of all parties built our city into an economic powerhouse.”

McCrory’s ad, which starts Tuesday, is expected to run for a week. Earlier ads played in some media markets, though not in Charlotte.

McCrory makes no mention of his Democratic opponent, Lt. Gov. Walter Dalton.

The ad features McCrory walking through an empty factory floor, hands in pockets, talking directly to viewers.

He blames the sagging economy on politics: “Concern about who gets the credit for good things or the blame for bad things.” He doesn’t mention specific issues, other than to say the state should “unleash” untapped energy resources.
