I am a mother of three, sharing my journey of hope and survival following the loss of our son...

Won't say that again...

This must be my summer for madness…

Last Monday, in the span of a few short conversations, my carefully constructed schedule disintegrated. Two people outside of my immediate circle and the chaos in their lives converged to create havoc in mine. Nevertheless, I regrouped and thought I had restored enough order to carry on as planned…wrong. Things went further off the rails and I’ve only myself to blame…

I never should’ve declared “I’m going, come hell or high water!” I know better than to open my big mouth and invite extra attention from the devil into the details of my life… Within an hour of making this statement, the possibility of escaping to the lake for a couple of days disintegrated into dust…

The fixer-upper project John and I had been spending every spare minute on suddenly needed to be finished two weeks earlier than scheduled…

And then I realized that our indoor kitty, Silly, had somehow become infested with fleas…meaning, of course, so had we…

Now, which part was the hell and which part was the high water was entirely dependent upon where I was physically standing at any given moment.

Painting and sealing 19 unfinished kitchen cabinet doors, touching up baseboard/wall/door paint from the carpet installation and scrubbing the bathrooms and kitchen versus vacuuming every floor surface plus anywhere else Silly may have curled up before the exterminator arrived, then repeating the process 24 hours later and washing every throw rug and bed linen in-between, in addition to my work and speaking schedule...

Suffice to say, I felt my newly doctored hair turning back to gray… I lost my temper more times than I could count and cried in frustration with alarming regularity…

Somehow, some way, it all got done.

But rest assured I won’t be making that same declaration again. From now on, I’ll be saying “Lord willing…” if I venture to say anything at all…

Wishing you many blessings, sunshine and hope…tg
