Police: Camera catches woman cashing stolen check

Police are asking for the public’s help to identify a woman spotted trying to cash a check stolen from a vehicle parked in Charlotte’s Cotswold neighborhood.

On July 28, someone broke into two vehicles in the parking lot of the Charlotte Swim and Racquet Club on Lomax Avenue, located off North Sharon Amity Road, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police.

Three days later, police said, a woman was caught on surveillance camera attempting to cash one of the victims’ checks at a SunTrust bank in Arden, just outside of Asheville and about 110 miles west of Charlotte.

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
