Nine injured in Charlotte wreck

By Joe Marusak

Nine people were treated for non-life threatening injuries after a wreck at Monroe Road and Ashmore Drive shortly after 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Medic transported victims to both CMC Mercy and Presbyterian Main.

Details of the wreck weren’t immediately available.

At 5:30 this morning, emergency crews were on the scene of a wreck on South Boulevard near Interstate 485 in which injuries are being reported.

Traffic, meanwhile, could become heavy at about 9 this morning on Charlottetowne Avenue and 7th and 4th streets, as up to 19,000 students from Mecklenburg and surrounding counties converge at Central Piedmont Community College for the start of the 2012 fall semester.

Throughout the day, student Life representatives will be stationed at information booths across all six CPCC campuses to help ease students' first day of class. Representatives will guide students to classes, answer their questions and provide them with important campus information, such as parking guidelines and extracurricular activities.
