Carolinas HealthCare System has signed Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to add star power to its latest health and wellness campaign, which is called “Take the Ball.”

The effort encourages local communities to make healthier lifestyle choices by promoting nutrition, physical activity and overall well being.

The campaign will launch Saturday, Aug. 11, during the Panthers’ first televised preseason game. The campaign will continue throughout the fall with displays in places such as Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, Charlotte Area Transit System buses, shopping malls and billboards, as well as through local TV and radio.

The campaign’s website, www.TakeTheBall.org, will feature videos of Newton discussing various topics related to healthy living.
