The parking garage built as part of a $26 million retail-housing-parking village rising near Johnson C. Smith University is expected to be ready for use before the Democratic National Convention, said N.C. Sen. Malcolm Graham, who works for the university in community and government relations
Mosaic Village, which includes a four-level, 400-space parking garage, is being built on a two-acre property at West Trade Street, a block from the university. Graham said the garage must go through two permitting procedures before it opens.
The 300-bed, suite-style student housing is expected to be complete in time for students to move in on Sept. 15, before the beginning of school, Graham said. The village will also include 7,500 square feet for street-level retail.
