A 21-year-old Charlotte woman was in jail Saturday on hit and run and DWI charges after police say she struck a pedestrian in west Charlotte.
The victim was taken to the hospital with what were described as life-threatening injuries.
The collision happened around 4:10 a.m. Saturday in the 3000 block of Queen City Boulevard.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say Rhonda Williamson was walking along the right lane of the road when she was struck by a vehicle driven by Ilse Perez.
Police said Perez continued driving before pulling into the parking lot of a hotel less than one mile away. Officers responding to the scene found Perez, whose vehicle had “evidence consistent with striking a pedestrian,” police said in a release on Saturday.
Williamson, 28, was taken to an area hospital.
Perez was arrested and charged with felony hit and run, serious injury by vehicle, and driving while impaired.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Detective Kevin Allred at 704-336-8862.
