I-77 clear after earlier wreck

Southbound traffic on I-77 in south Charlotte is moving again late Monday morning after a multi-vehicle wreck had caused big problems earlier.

At 11 a.m., traffic was flowing without problems on I-77 from Charlotte into York County. A wreck about 9:45 a.m. near Nations Ford Road had blocked the left lane and caused a backup of several miles. The wreck was cleared about 10:30 a.m., and traffic gradually recovered.

At 11 a.m., the only other problems in Charlotte were on Providence Road and Old Pineville Road.

Providence Road ... A collision was reported at the Sardis Road intersection, with moderate delays.

Old Pineville Road ... A section of the road remains closed, while crews repair the road surface after a water main break was fixed. The closure is near South Boulevard.
