Rowan County Sheriff’s Office offers cold case information reward

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is offering a $1,000 reward for anyone with information on the 2001 death of of Marlon Darnell Ellis.

The offer is the beginning of the office’s campaign to solve cold cases, according to a news release.

Ellis’ body was found under some brush in a wooded area near 201 Five Row Road in Salisbury on Feb. 7, 2001.

Ellis had been shot to death, the release said. About the time of his death, Ellis was working at Pro-Mats and Wagoner Contruction in Salisbury through USA Staffing.

He lived in various locations, including a homeless shelter, the release said.

Anyone with information about the case can call the Criminal Investigative Division at the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8687.
