Evangelist Billy Graham is back at home.
The 93-year-old Charlotte native, hospitalized Sunday morning because of bronchitis, was discharged Tuesday afternoon after a two-day stay at Mission Hospital in Asheville
Mr. Graham had a quick recovery and responded very well to his treatment, said Dr. Daniel Fertel, a hospital pulmonologist. Catching these types of pulmonary infections early is crucial for a fast recovery, as was the case for Mr. Graham. Despite this illness he remains remarkably healthy for a 93-year-old man.
Graham remained alert and in good spirits throughout his stay, aides and hospital spokesmen said. In a statement released by the hospital, Graham expressed thanks for his treatment.
It is never easy going to the hospital, but the doctors and nurses here provided me with wonderful care, Graham said. I am also grateful for the prayers and letters I received from people across the country and around the world.
Graham will resume his usual care and physical therapy at his Montreat home, as well as dive back in to ongoing creative projects, including a book about his 70 years in public ministry.
