By Joe DePriest

Authorities on Wednesday released a snapshot of two suspects in the weekend vandalism at Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery.

Detective Graham Kuzia with the Gaston County Police Department said the image was taken by a security camera at a church parking lot next to the cemetery on North 13th Street.

The photo shows two white males, apparently teenagers, entering the cemetery around 10 p.m., Kuzia said. One of the suspects is taller than the other.

Authorities continue to interview people and follow leads in a case that has caused outrage in the community. A total of 42 grave markers were vandalized late Friday or early Saturday. It was the second act of vandalism reported in the cemetery in the past month.

Anyone with information about the crimes should call police at 704-866-3320 or Crime Stoppers at 704-861-8000.
