Your morning traffic update

Interstate 77 is the trouble spot at 8 a.m. this Thursday morning in the Charlotte region.

Collisions and congestion are causing problems in two different parts of I-77 -- near the state line south of Charlotte, and near the Lake Norman area of northern Mecklenburg County.

A few other problems also are being reported at 8 a.m. Here is the summary:

-- I-77 northbound, near state line ... Congestion has slowed traffic to 20 mph.

-- I-77 northbound, near Cornelius ... A collision with injuries was reported shortly before 8 a.m. near the Catawba Avenue exit (mile marker 28). Traffic is slowing on the northbound side.

-- I-77 southbound, near Cornelius ... Traffic is moving only 15 to 20 mph, due to congestion from an earlier wreck, and onlooker delay near the scene of the northbound wreck.

-- Albemarle Road at Farm Pond Lane ... A collision is causing slow traffic on Albemarle Road in both directions. Motorists should consider using an alternate route until 8:30 a.m.

-- I-85 southbound, Cabarrus County ... Construction-related congestion has slowed traffic to 15 to 20 mph near Poplar Tent Road and Bruton Smith Boulevard.

-- U.S. 321 southbound, near Dallas and Gastonia ... Congestion has slowed traffic to 20 mph, approaching I-85.
