Bobcats start preseason on Oct. 7

The Charlotte Bobcats tip off an eight-game preseason schedule Sunday, Oct. 7, hosting the Washington Wizards at Time Warner Cable Arena.

The 1 p.m. Sunday start avoids a conflict with the Carolina Panthers, who have a 4 p.m. kickoff that day against the Seattle Seahawks. That first Bobcats exhibition is one of two at TWC, the second the annual “cool school’’ event for local middle-school students. The Bobcats will play the Milwaukee Bucks on Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. to the school crowd.

The Bobcats will play two other exhibitions around the Carolinas. They meet the Miami Heat in Raleigh on Oct. 23 and the New Orleans Hornets at the North Charleston Coliseum on Oct. 11.

Bobcats preseason schedule (all times EDT)

Oct. 7: vs. Washington Wizards at TWC Arena (1 p.m.). Oct. 9: at New Orleans Hornets (8 p.m.), Oct. 11 vs. Hornets at North Charleston Coliseum (7:30). Oct. 16: at OKC Thunder (8 p.m.). Oct. 20: at Detroit Pistons (7 p.m.). Oct. 23: vs. Miami Heat at Raleigh’s PNC Arena (7 p.m.). Oct. 25: vs. Milwaukee Bucks at TWC Arena (11 a.m., for middle-school students). Oct. 26: at Dallas Mavericks (8:30 p.m.)
