2 wrecks snarl midday traffic

Midday traffic in Charlotte has been marked by a pair of collisions that are causing slowdowns.

A multi-vehicle collision on the inner loop of Interstate 485 in southwest Charlotte has blocked three of four lanes. This is near mile marker 4, between South Tryon and Steele Creek exits. Authorities expect to have one or two lanes cleared soon, but delays are likely until 1:30 p.m. in the area.

Fortunately, traffic was light in the area at noon.

The other wreck is on northbound I-77 at the ramp to the John Belk Freeway. A collision has blocked the left lane of the ramp, and delays are expected in the area until 1 p.m.

Also, very slow traffic is being reported on northbound I-85 between Statesville Avenue and Sugar Creek Road. No collisions are noted in the area, but traffic is moving only 20 to 25 mph at noon.
