2 suspected in break-ins at SouthPark swim, tennis club

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are asking for the public’s help to identify two people who broke into a swim and tennis club near SouthPark Mall early Thursday.

Police said they believe the suspects broke into the same club last month.

Police were called Thursday to the Barclay Downs Swim and Racquet Club, located on Inverness Road in the Barclay Downs neighborhood, after someone discovered the break-in.

Police said two people entered the club between 1:50 a.m. and 2:10 a.m. and then stole $300 and a credit card.

Another break-in happened at the club between 8 p.m. July 2 and 9 a.m. July 3, according to a police report. In that case, someone pried open a sliding glass window to the refreshment stand and stole money, an iPod and peanut butter cups, the report says.

Police released surveillance photos showing two people inside the club. Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
