Crime Stoppers is now offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads authorities to a person suspected of robbing 10 Charlotte convenience stores this spring, police said Wednesday.
The suspect was carrying a black or silver handgun in at least one of the robberies, police said.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say the robberies occurred between May 9 and July 18 at Gate, Kangaroo Express and Circle K convenience stores and gas stations
The stores that were robbed are scattered across the city, on Old Providence, East Independence, South Tryon, East W.T. Harris Boulevard, Park Road, West Sugar Creek, Albemarle, Providence and Monroe Roads, police said.
Police described the suspect as a dark-skinned black male, between the ages of 20 and 30 years who, who is about 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall with an average or muscular build. The suspect had some facial hair and was left-handed police said.
In at least one of the robberies, the suspect was seen wearing blue jeans, and a gray and black digital camouflage zip-up hooded sweatshirt with a black t-shirt underneath, along with a black ski mask. The suspect also wore blue and white gloves bearing a NY logo.
Police asked anyone with information about the suspect or robberies to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. A reward may be offered for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
