and Kick

Boys and girls ages 6 to 15 can compete in their age groups in punting, passing and kicking. Winners will progress to sectional competitions. Another local competition will be held 1 p.m. Sunday at Smithville Park in Cornelius. Make sure to visit the website to learn all the rules. You will need to bring your child’s birth certificate.

Movie

Southpark Movies Under the Stars

Enjoy the final flick in Southpark’s Movies Under the Stars series, “Kung Fu Panda.” Pre-movie entertainment will start at 7 p.m.; the movie starts at dusk. Bring lawn chairs and blankets.

FunkFest 2012

Funkytown Parties is throwing a party for kids. The event will include live DJs, dance battles, live performers and activity booths with air-brush hats, tie-dye T-shirts, vendors, games and more. Bring a new, unwrapped toy or baby item for the event’s charity partner, Bright Blessings, which provides birthday parties for homeless children and services for mothers. Enjoy free food, drinks, prizes and more.

Skate

Back to Cool Party

Cool off with an ice skating party. Everyone skates for free, and kids ages 4 to 10 who’ve not had lessons at Extreme Ice Center can even get a free lesson. Register for the free lesson on the website.

Music

Jam for Cam NAMI Benefit Show

5 p.m. Saturday. The Saloon at NC Music Factory. thesalooncharlotte.com.

This show featuring Sarah Clanton Schaffer and the Clanton Road is in memory of Cameron Wade Shelton, a 23-year-old student at UNC Charlotte who died in June. Although there’s no admission, donations will be accepted to support mental illness causes.
