The winner: I finally got tired of bruising and banging up my arms and hands when working on my various vehicles. Gloves offer easy hand protection, but I needed some sort of arm protection. My wife, the brains of the outfit, suggested knee socks with the toes cut out. A trip to the store, three pairs and $4 later I’m protected from wrist to upper arm. Observer bags go great with morning coffee
I use the plastic sleeve that the Charlotte Observer is delivered in and put my coffee grounds in it. Disposing of coffee grounds isn’t messy anymore! Cindy Redmond, Charlotte
Clever work-around when the coffee pot quits
My little four-cup coffee pot stopped working and I was desperate for a hot cup of coffee. I set the pot up with a filter and coffee and poured boiling water directly over the coffee. It quickly drained and I poured more until the carafe was full. The coffee was delicious. Now I don’t have to hurry out and buy a coffeepot until it’s convenient! I love the ideas that readers send in. Peggy Bennett, Matthews
