North Mecklenburg High junior Abhi Kulgod and Ardrey Kell sophomore Elizabeth Morris congratulate one another after receiving trophies for their first-place finish at the first official Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools districtwide Camp for Forensics Excellence (CAFFE) debate tournament, at Myers Park High this month. Abhi and Elizabeth competed in Public Forum. The topic: Resolved: Congress Should Renew the Federal Assault Weapons Ban.
The whole thing was a great camp, Abhi said. Debate has so many practical skills that will help you for the future You become more knowledgeable about whats happening around the world.
Said Elizabeth: I want to be a scientist. It will be really important for me to be an effective public speaker, like to deliver research papers at conferences.
