Covenant Day School graduate Lane Baker was one of only 21 recipients nationally to win a highly competitive National Latin Exam $1,000 scholarship.
Lane earned a gold medal on the National Latin Exam the past five years, starting with the eighth grade. "It was always a challenge every year, especially the last year," Lane said last week while getting ready to leave for his freshman year at Harvard, where hell continue his studies in Classics.
"The tests have increasing difficulty as you go through the levels of Latin. Doing it all these years in a row is really great."
The National Latin Exam is offered under the joint sponsorship of the American Classical League and the National Junior Classical League, and was taken last spring by more than 149,000 Latin students from all 50 states, as well as students from 13 foreign countries.
