Virginia Lytton and Stephanie Walton of Charlotte, and Kelly Swanson of Concord are among the first class of recipients of the Great Wolf Resorts Scholarship, which can be put toward their college education for this school year.
Virginia, 18, Stephanie, 19, and Kelly, 17, were among 100 "pack members" -- part-time or full-time workers for the company -- who applied for the scholarships; 11 won money. All three worked at the Concord resort. Winners were chosen from among workers at the company’s four resort sites across the country.
The amount of the awards varied due to different lengths of service time. Virginia and Stephanie got $4,000 scholarships; Kelly was awarded $2,000. Kelly and Virginia are attending UNC Chapel Hill this fall, Stephanie UNC Greensboro.
To apply for a scholarship, pack members submitted a letter of recommendation, application and personal essay.
